A day at Wanhelsing
The day begins in the house, with puppies learning its familiar sounds and routines. Outside, the garden offers room to sniff, explore and play. Later, the dogs return to the rhythms of family life.
These everyday moments help us understand each dog: how it approaches something new, seeks company or settles to rest. They are part of choosing a companion for a family.
Per nome
There are not many dogs in this house, and that changes what it is possible to know. A character is watched from its first weeks — the puppy that holds its ground, the one that looks first and moves second. Francesca’s account keeps that register, dog by dog, name by name; it still tells how Vanhelsing, between rings, would be asleep belly-up in somebody’s arms within the minute.
The older dogs have their place here too, with familiar routines and time alongside the family.
Across its history the house has bred and shown the wirehaired variety in all three sizes — standard, nano and kaninchen. Three sizes, one type: the same coat, the same back, the same certainty at three weights. Of Briatore, the telling keeps one line: «un vero bassotto standard in un corpo da kaninchen» — a true standard dachshund in a kaninchen body.
